Sepak Takraw

During our practical in p.e our class participated in a unusual sport that originated in south east Asia called Sepak Takraw, The game Sepak Takraw is similar to volleyball but there are two main difference  in Sepak Takraw you can use any part of your body except your arms the second difference is the ball that  is used in the game is much smaller and either made out of flax or wood.  When our class played this game we where set in to teams of three of our own choosing with four groups, Once into our groups we played each other.

My level of effort and engagement during this game was a M, I have given my self this grade because without having any experience or knowledge about this game our team still manged to play, Moreover in my team I was able to use my head to score leading on to the winning point, The Three main factors that influenced me throughout the lesson were challenge,fun/enjoyment and completion.

Challenge this factor influenced me because the challenge of learning a new sport in a short time period made me to pay attention more so that I could play the game also with the challenge of playing the game without using your arms made the game more fun, furthermore If it would have been another sport that I was familiar with then I don't think that I would pay attention more.

Secondly with the second factor fun/enjoyment, the fact that we played without using our arms it made the game fun, when at beginning of the session when the teacher mentioned that there were no arms or hands involved it seemed weird but then further in the game in made the game more enjoyable because it was a new experiences were as in most sport's you use you feet and hands and arms mostly. By not using my hands or arms it also made more experienced and familiar with using my feet, head, knees and back.

Third and finally the competition influenced me the most out of all my factors because with every class student not knowing how to play it increased the competition level, By increasing the competition level it also made us more interactive and fun which leads on to having my former factors. If the competition level was easy then the game wouldn't be fun or interesting and I don't think that I would have my factors.

Balance and stability

Balance and stability, Balance Is the force around you that keeps you upright, and stability is the ability to resist disruption to balance, and return to balance if disruption occurs, Our task was to explore the 3 types which keep you upright which are the line of gravity, centre of mass and base of support.

If you where to increase your  balance and stability you would need to widen your support so that you would be more stable and have more support, you would also need to lower your centre of gravity and apply force towards an unstable force.

In P.E we where set a task which was related to balance and stability our task was to perform certain pose's which outlined the 3 types of gravity.  The task involved a certain number of students to perform the pose's with which then leaded on with our whole class doing a human pyramid, I strongly thought that this activity was a waste of time but further on my opinion changed.

The Musculoskeletal system

There are Three types of muscle are skeletal, smooth and cardiac muscles, The skeletal muscle is the muscle that moves the body, skeletal muscle pull on tendons which are attached to the bone making the body part move, smooth muscle helps your blood to flow better and also helps to push out urine where as the cardiac muscle helps you to pump blood through your body with the main cardiac muscle being you heart.

Agonist and antagonist- Agonist is the muscles which causes movement through the own activation, an example is the triceps brachii contracts, making a shortening contraction, during the up phase of a push-up (elbow extension), An Antagonist is the part when a muscle contracts the other muscle relaxes.

Some Movements in your body are Extension and flexion, Extension is straitening and extending of the joint to increase the angle between two bones or body parts. an example of this is knee extension, When standing up, the knees are extended. An example of Extension is when the hip or shoulder moves the backward towards the side of the body, A Weightlifter for example lifts the weight above head head which then the back hip extends to stay up right, Flexion is the movement which decrease the inner angel of the joint an example is when a bodybuilder flex's to shows his muscle.

In our class we did an activity which was related to the Musculoskeletal system, the activity involved groups of three which then one person from the group would put on a suit from their the other two would label the bones and muscle that were in the body, This activity helped us to revise with our labelling on the muscle and bones and also the movements that they did, moreover with the body parts that we had gotten wrong we knew what the types of muscle and bones to focus on.

Bench Ball

Bench ball is a game which involves two even teams, Benchball involves two bench and balls the aim of benchball is too get your team onto the opposition bench well the opposition does the same. Every team has it’s own side if a member of the opposition team come onto your side you have a chance to touch them if you touch them then they must return back to their own side to try again, once the first person from your team is on the bench then you must throw a ball to them if they catch the ball you have a chance to run onto the bench but you must not get tagged from the opponent.

My participation in benchball was Merit due to the effort and engagement, I have chosen merit because during the game of benchball my defense and offense skills were good an example is when people from the opposition team tried to get past when I defended the Bench, Furthermore my offense was good because I managed to get onto the bench I was motivated by my goal to beat the opposition team.

Three key factors that help me in benchball were + challenge I have chosen this factor because with the opposition team being a challenging team it increased my level of engagement, this increased my level of engagement because by having a challenge I was able to set my mind to beating the opponents, moreover without having a challenging team then I wouldn't have tried much harder than I did so by having a challenge it increased my level of participation.

Another key factor that I have chosen is + friends and classmates and how we were eager to beat the other team this helped us because it made us more defensive by having a competition we were able to improve on our tactical skills and planning an example is when we collaborated cooperatively together making a plan which improved on our scoring by having friends and classmates in my team it made my level of participation increase.

The final factor that I have chosen is + previous experience and how at my old school we would play benchball I have chosen this factor because by having previous experiences with bench ball I was familiar with tactics and strategies to use during the game. By having the previous experience this made me want to play more, so this factor increased my participation.

If I was to increase my participation level I would be more involved throughout the game for example helping others to get to the bench by distracting the other team.
